CURE DEPRESSION (ENGLISH)
Elohe AVIKHA Elohe Avraham Elohe YISHAQ Elohe YAAQOV
OF YOUR FATHER GOD, GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB GOD GOD (EX. 3.6)
TOPIC: CURE DEPRESSION (versão English)
"My tears have been my meat day and night, while they say to me constantly: Where is your God? Even when I remember, I pour into my soul; for I had gone with the crowd. I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping festival.
Why are you downcast, O my soul, and why art thou disquieted in me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the salvation of his face. O my God, in me my soul is cast down ... "(Psalm 42.3-6a)
Depression has been called the disease of the century, where millions of people suffer this evil.
Synonyms and related names:
depressive disorder, major depression, unipolar depression.
To idealize someone in depression let's call her Mary.
Maria does not care what happens to you, do not take care of appearance, no change of clothes, not combing the hair right, does not prepare the food, and would rather sit in front of the TV or escape from life sleeping. He sleeps a lot. Or spend most of the day dreaming with open eyes. He has thought of death. It is like millions of other people worldwide, including Vang Gogh, Humberto de Campos and Augusto dos Anjos.
Someone called depression "private hell". What it is, in fact, for many people, although it is normal to feel from time to time in ups and downs, because loneliness is part of life. We all suffer the impact from time to time. But when we feel down ( 'the pit'), most of the time, or cry at the slightest provocation, then we have a case of depression. In this situation who is depressed does not want to food, conjugal duties, or even see other people. Nothing seems to work, and even seems that God has forgotten us.
Some of depresses with a gray sky or someone begging. It is this: the road of life, there are obstacles and dangers. One of them is the valley of the shadow of death, another is an abyss called Depression.
The depressed is someone who becomes dejected, sad, full of melancholy, dejected because high was pushed down. Generally, women suffer more than men. Recall, however, that depression of a person may look completely different from each other. Therefore, reactions vary: one thinks about dying. Another wants to live, another think everybody is cheating.
The differences occur because people are different: a hysterical person will become hysterical or hostile, more obsessed obsessive, suspiciously will be with increased confidence. See the prayer of the Psalmist, "I cried out to God with my voice, God raised my voice, and he inclined unto me ears. On the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; my hand ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God, and disturbed me; I complained, and my spirit fainted. (Selah.) Hast maintained my eyes awake; I am so troubled that I can not speak. Considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. At night I called to remembrance my song; I meditated in my heart, and my spirit made diligent search. Will the Lord reject forever? And will he be favorable?
always gone for his kindness? Gone are already generating promise to generation? Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Or ended his compassions in his anger? (. Shelah) And I said, This is my infirmity; but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. " Psalm 77.1-10.
THE SYMPTOMS
Should recognize them because almost all of us have a friend or relative who has these symptoms:
· Insomnia or irregular behavior of sleep, a result that the affected person wakes up tired;
· Apathy, poor concentration, not remembering, even, what you read;
· Loss of appetite (the food seems to taste);
· Chronic fatigue;
· Indecision, making it impractical to decide on small things;
· Love and affection decrease because the depressed considers close friends with unsympathetic; there is a desire to move away from others;
· Decrease or total loss of interest in people, things, ideas, churches, spiritual things;
Irritability, aggression, explosive behavior, giving as a result that the depressed can not control his irritability over little things day to day;
· Remorse for the past, for things I should not do, but did;
· Involuntary crying;
· Despair; Moreover, a subject of the student teaches us that there are three stages of depression: Ameno, when you give the despondency; Seriously, come to the rebate; Record when it falls despair. They say it "difficult to continue living," often heard expression, by the way;
· Self-deprecation, as expressions like "Everything I do goes wrong";
· Low self-esteem, or the feeling of not loved (a) or that no one cares about us.
Depression is a serious thing, and other symptoms are: loss of energy, pessimism, hypochondria (. Morbid depression of spirit, morbid melancholy 2. morbid fear of being sick), self-criticism; feelings of guilt, shame, helplessness; feeling that it is not worthy; loss of interest in work and / or sexual life, stress, prone to accidents, compulsory labor "ergolatria".
CAUSES OF DEPRESSION
The existential situation is among the main causes of this evil. It's like you live at work, at home, at school, in college. The job that offers no reward, but can not be left because there is no one in sight; much tension schedules and deadlines; domestic tension, economic, sleep deficit, little exercise, personal problems, creating problems, problems in childhood, relationship problems, distances of God, the middle-aged (difficult for man, even more for women), disappointments , illness, postpartum depression, denial, inadequate nutrition, drug effect, loss of job, loss of position, loss of loved ones through death, divorce, abandonment, etc., etc.
Other depressions has no apparent sense, however, they are actually caused by an internal imbalance, such as glandular disorders or hypoglycemia.
The truth is that depression is one which condition the Devil (opponent) takes advantage to make the people of God useless for the Work of the Master Jesus, and the enemy uses state of depression to lead to feelings of guilt, and even knowledge of the grace and mercy of God does not seem to have the power to help them. So it comes to self-condemnation. Understand the Christian depressed that God gives forgiveness, but not experienced or who committed the unpardonable sin (unknowingly set it). The devil attacks Christian with fatigue that depresses, and thus comes the feeling of weakness, anxiety and fear. Fear of death, fear of tomorrow, fear of people, fear of specific things, and ill-defined fears too.
The DEPRESÃO BIBLE LIGHT
The Bible discusses depression, but there are narratives and exclamations that transpires leave it. This is the case of PS # 69, PS # 88 and Psalm No. 102. The Word of God is characterized by realism, why does not hide the pain of depression. A few examples:
· JOB (Job chapter 3); MOISÉIS (Numbers 11.10-15); ALL GOD'S PEOPLE (Exodus 6.9), ELIAS (I Kings 19); JONAS (Jonah 4.1-3); JEREMIAH (Book of Lamentations); PEDRO (Matthew 26:75) and Jesus Christ in Gethsemane (Matthew 26.37,38; Luke 22:44). The New Testament Vivo verte Jesus' experience as follows: "... (Jesus) took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, James and John with him, and began to feel full of anguish and sadness. He said to them, "My soul is full of fear and sadness, to die ... stay here ... stay awake with me."
However, in all cases above which would lead to desperation gives way to HOPE, and rests on the unshakable faith in God and the certainty of abundant life. It is only as we use the Psalmist's expressions - Psalm 34. 15-19 "The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, To cut off from earth their memorial. The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them and all their troubles. The Lord is near those who have a broken heart, and saves a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all. John 14.1 "NOT be troubled your heart; believe in God, believe also in me, "Romans 8.26-28" Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep. And he who searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit; and it is he who intercedes for the saints according to God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose ", and the word of Paul, an apostle in Romans 15:13" Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. "
ONE STEP BEYOND DEPRESSION
God does not want us to suffer and to help those who feel depressed. The first thing that the believer has to understand (we call them first step or first step) is that we need God. A good reminder is the psalmist's words of David in Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd ... guide me ... you are with me." He promised His living and constant presence with us:
"When you pass through the waters I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; When you walk through the fire, not burn thee, neither shall the flame scorch you "Isaiah 43.2
Jesus came to teach us to have a full life, different, improved, special, rich in blessings, or, to use his own words, "abundant life." For this reason, we can not understand how can a believer in Jesus Christ refuse this wonderful life, special and different that Christ offers to live in smallness and limitation of a life full of depression ?!
The second step is: If it comes to physical depression, medical treatment will be necessary. If the cause is another, seek a therapist, a Christian psychiatrist, a psychoanalyst, or a trained pastor for counseling. However, as Christians, we have something in our favor: it is a knowledge of God and of His abundant grace.
The third step is that depression must be fought with spiritual weapons, "Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. " Ephesians 6.12-18.
In depression do not be alone:
· Search company, a friend, a confidant with whom to share the load;
· Work: physical activity is to relieve tension;
· Turn sadness into something creative; used his time;
· Act with faith; Faith believes that God is present even in darkness.
The fourth step: Do not be mulling over injustices or failures. Ask God to help them forget the past, to forgive those who have sinned against you and to forgive.
A fifth step is to use the weapon of praise, sing hymns, it is a spiritual therapy. When we praise, worship, pray, please, please, do everything to God for who He is and for what he did in Jesus Christ.
An example of unsuccessful depression is the story of the prophet Elijah. For three and a half years, he fought victoriously against the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal (pagan god) and four hundred prophets of Asherah (pagan god). Received a death threat from Queen Jezebel See I Kings 19. 2:03 "Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying you do so to me the gods, and also, if a certain tomorrow about this time do not put the your life as one of them. What seeing it, got up and went for his life, was gone, and came to Beersheba, which is in Judah, and left his servant.
Elijah became depressed "But he went to the desert, a day's journey, and sat down under a juniper tree; and he asked that he might die, and said: Enough, O LORD; Now take away my life, for I am no better than my parents, "I Kings 19.4, forgot the power of God and fled one hundred and fifty kilometers in the desert.
In his story, there are two factors to overcome depression:
· Rest (I Kings 19.5-8). Elijah rested, fed and traveled forty days;
· Desabafo (I Kings 19. 9 and 10). God said to him, "Elijah, tell me what happened to you," and Le unburdened. Do the same: tell God, tell a good friend who is his instrument of God;
Elias weaves a new awareness of God (I Kings 19:11, 12). In the cave entrance was Elijah the strong wind broke the rocks, the earthquake shifted the mountains and the fire was devastating. They are all very powerful statements of grandeur, majesty and power of the Creator, "but the Lord was not there," came a quiet breeze, soft and calm ... and God was there. Elijah, therefore, was not alone!
If so, go back to the activity! Come back to life (I Kings 19.13-16). God tells Elijah two things:
1. You have been called to be a prophet, so will anoint three men, one of whom will succeed him, and;
2. God assures him that seven thousand faithful are on their side. You, my brother in Jesus Christ, is in the same condition: he was called to the riches of Christ's grace, received the anointing of the Holy Spirit, has at his side the unity of the faithful, the church that loves and prays for you.
God help us.
